A trout stream rarely gives up its meaning at a glance. Spring loosens the river and awakens the banks. It reminds us that God's renewing work often begins before we can fully see it. An angler learns that attention matters. The current, the light, the stones, and the smallest movement on the surface can reveal what hurried eyes miss. Our spiritual lives are much the same. God is often present in details we overlook because we are searching only for something dramatic.

When you leave the water, carry its lesson with you. The stream keeps flowing after we turn toward home, and God's mercy continues after our awareness fades. We are held not by the strength of our concentration, but by the constancy of his love.
